motel america

The small panels of Motel America, painted or sketched on site during a series of road trips, explore the perpetual flux of natural systems, a cyclical passage of time, visual and physical memory and, above all, a connection to the infinite through the experience of the present moment. “These works stem from a road trip in several phases, but the road is never visible. Only the titles imply contingent time and place; for example, Highway 8 to El Centro, California, winter 2006.” (Bernard Lamarche, Margins of Meaning, 2011).
